Our History
Imagine Acts Ministry (IAM) was founded in August 2007 and has been serving in the nation of Uganda for twelve years. It was founded in Louisiana by Becky Miller and Stella English. While in Uganda in March of 2007 on a church mission trip, they saw a need for Bible story resource materials to use in villages and for discipleship training in churches. IAM was established for the specific purpose of creating illustrated, culturally relevant Bible story books. The Bible stories were written in English by IAM, illustrated by a Ugandan artist and printed in Uganda. The series titled Creation to Christ consists of 12 books, chronologically ordered, and designed to be transported easily. The book ministry continues to thrive with over 25,000 books having been freely distributed throughout the nation.
In October 2014, IAM, along with two Ugandan co-workers, established Shalom Medical Clinic in a remote village in a poverty-stricken area of southern Uganda near the Tanzania border. Within six months of opening, Shalom Clinic realized the need to provide for inpatients, and IAM secured a building on the site to serve as a general ward with six beds in 2015. In the following years, the need for a larger facility with expanded services was undeniable and plans for expansion began.
The new facility is planned for construction in 2020 on a 4.5acre site a mile from the current clinic.
