Sustaining the Hungry During Covid Lockdown

June 18, 2020 by Becky Miller

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Mark 12:31

Along with most of the world, Uganda began a very strict lockdown on March 31 in efforts to control Covid-19. Shops were closed and all public and private transportation were banned. An exception was made for medical professionals.  Drs. Dan and Roy immediately put a plan together to visit and feed the elderly and very poor in their area who would suffer greatly. Partnering with IAM, they began distributing 55lb sacks of maize flour throughout the villages and communities.  Time was spent in each and every home the doctors visited. Prayers and words of encouragement were given along with every sack of flour.

Money was provided to purchase medicines enabling Dr. Dan and Dr. Roy, along with volunteers, to make house calls to those who were ill and isolated.  Because of the generosity of IAM donors, hundreds were given food to sustain them during this difficult time.
